QOD VI

This Saturday I get to be a bridesman at my best friend’s wedding. It will the first time I have been to a wedding in over two years where I am not behind the camera-what a change. Question for this week is:

What do you think about having people of different genders as wedding attendants?

East Egg Elegance

When we first met Alicia, she described her wedding as a classic throwback to the 1920’s elegance of The Great Gatsby.

I think she and her now husband Marshall were exactly right. Their wedding this weekend captured the timeless elegance of the best of life and love. The ceremony itself was touching and hilarious. I have never laughed so much at a wedding as I did during theirs.

The ceremony was just a precursor to the wild party filled with amazing music and good-hearted people. I spent half of the reception draped in the shawl and sun glasses of one of Alicia’s sorority sisters, but what could I do, the poor girl was hot. By the time we left, we felt as thought we had been transported back to East Egg and enjoyed the revelry and merriment that would have made Daisy and Nick green with envy.

Alice in Adm Land

An up and coming avant-garde fashion designer came to us a few weeks ago with an idea for a post-apocalyptical editorial fashions shoot.

Tonight we had the privilege of working with a talented team of models, stylists, and of course Adm van Eeckhout-our illustrious fashion designer. We shot in and outside of Blue Tower Studio in the RiNo arts district of Downtown Denver. Our vision ended up being a post-modern take on Alice in Wonderland. When you work with such skilled professionalism, it is easy to get great shots. We had an amazing time and look forward to our next shoot with this team.

Camels and Swords

People come from all over the country to get married in Colorado and looking at locations like Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs, we are not surprised.

Yesterday we joined a fun-loving and highly spirited couple, Sarah and Nick, with all their friend’s and family at Glen Eyrie a beautiful park with a tudor-style castle to begin the day with amazing portraits. There were so many people that for one shot we just spread out and took over the entire patio balcony of the property.

From Glen Eyrie we stole Sarah and Nick away and got a few shots by the Kissing Camels at Garden of the Gods. The wedding was dignified and elegant and when Jeff gave his daughter away, there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. Everything about the wedding was so much fun and we were so glad we got to work with both amazing families.

Thank you to our Clients

For those of you who might not know…Meka is pregnant!

As we are adding to our family for the first time, we have been thinking about our extended family – our amazing clients. We wanted to do something to thank you for what you have done for us. Starting in June, anyone who refers a new client to us will have the choice of one of the two gifts from Meka and Greg…

If someone you refer to us hires us for a wedding you will have the choice of:
1. A two hour photography session (it can be a holiday, family, TTD, or any other session you wish) with a disc of professionally edited images
2. A twenty-page, custom designed coffee-table-style photo book

If someone you refer to us hires us for a portrait session you will have the choice of:
1. Two 8x10 prints of your choice
2. A DVD photo slideshow with custom menus, chapters, and music

Please let us know if you refer someone to us so that we can thank you for supporting our soon-to-be born daughter and us.

QOW IV

Question of the Week IV:

What is the most quirky and unusual thing you did or plan to do at your wedding?

Saturday, May 10, 2008

Luv... Trueeee Luv!

Wendy and David are self-professed geeks. Only trueGandalf-fearing geeks would begin their wedding ceremony with the beginning of Buttercup and Westley's wedding in The Princess Bride. Being a part of their quirky and wonderful wedding in Estes Park reminds me that love is all about who you are. It was an amazing day.

QOW III

What do you prefer: home movies or family pictures?

The History of Education

Meka and I photographed the promotional stills for The Theatre Group's (http://www.theatregroup.org/) upcoming production of The History Boys.

Considered to be one of the most accoladed theatre productions in history, The History Boys won a six Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Play. Denver has a long standing tradition of only two theatre companies bring Best Picture productions to the city: The Denver Center Theatre Company and The Curious Theatre Company. This is the first time in years that a Best Play has opened at a theatre other than one of these two houses. It was great to be a part of such an amazing production with a great group of actors.

Hold the Mayo

This weekend was the first of many summer festivals in downtown Denver-Cinco de Mayo. I visited the performance venues, the vendors, and the parade.

What really brought me right back to my New Mexican roots was the green chile cook-off. Sure most of the competitors gringo-ized it down and I needed a few bottles of Tapatio to really give it some kick but they were good. I was happy to enjoy the sunshine and flavour of Denver.

Farm Fresh

Saturday marked the first day of the Cherry Creek Farmers Market. Just a few miles from my old university it was great to go and see the amazing produce, cuisine, and hand-made products for sale.

We are go for Launch

Friday night I had the opportunity to photograph at the Launch party for a new website from 9News, the NBC affiliate here in Denver. It was a wild party with body-painters, magicians, artists, and tons of the city's ClubKids. A unique scene but I was glad I was there.
